FIRST COMIC PAGE EVER!
So that’s what I did in my first ten days of trying to make my first comic page ever. I’m so freakin’ happy with myself!!! This is actually an excerpt from the end of Part 2 of the graphic novel. I just kinda decided I wanted to started with a high point, makes it easier to get drawing. I have to work on time. It took way too long just to get that much done. And it’s not even all penciled in yet.
SO, NEWSFLASH: I bought a 3-day pass to New York Comic Con, for portfolio reviews. Priorities are quickly shifting with my Self-Master’s in Fine Art program. I missed having a meeting last week, busy with work and with this comic page. I’m going to start focusing more on my portfolio for October in New York, and less on the graphic novel. Still going to work on it on the side, but I’ve really got to keep pushing hard on the comic pages.
It’s best if I have a whole short story, at least 16 pages long, printed, to give out copies to editors and writers at the con. That’s my conclusion. I’ll update more in a bit. The short story will most likely end up included int the graphic novel anyhow.
I bought Manga Studio 5, a bunch of comic fonts for commercial use, and like 3 books from DC on coloring, lettering, inking, and penciling for the industry. I love my Mastering Comics book, but it’s designed to take someone through a whole year of work. I’ve got to pick up the pace if I’m going to be ready for NYCC.
