Week 1 Review:
Sal completed 11 out of the 15 tracings, and only found two of the three books helpful (Lucifer: Evensong and Fables: Legends in Exile). Lucifer provided the best educational experience on the function of different sizes and sequences of boxes/frames, on inking and on composition.
Sol completed the reading of the graphic novel My Faith in Frankie and identified its structure, as well as narration styles, character development and main themes. Sol also worked further on developing the main plot and sub plots of the graphic webnovel project.
After a long meeting, we decided that it IS possible to accomplish an effective intro to the series we are developing, by the local comic con in October. Sal and Sol agreed upon either 20 full color pages, or 40 black and white pages. Sol wants to create a miniseries for the launch of the project, so that after this first year of the Self Master’s Program, we’ll have at least a strong portfolio to get a gig working with a larger team on a someone else’s project, or we’ll try the crowdfunding thing to start work on the serials. The miniseries will introduce the main characters, protagonist, antagonist, theme, and problem, as well as give the reader a good dose of backstory, despite the unpopularity of the backstory mechanism in storytelling.
Sol will spend the next week finalizing the basic outline of the plot, as well as start filling in some details that will take place in the miniseries. The first 20 - 40 pages will only be one part of the miniseries. Sol thinks it will take 4 total parts to complete the miniseries. Sol will take as many hours as necessary this next week to finalize the main plot happenings and characters. Sal will only spend 5 hours this week, as Sol will need almost all the free hours on the story. Sal will spend those five hours playing with inking styles and finding one or two that are the best options for the story.
Week 2… And, we’re off!
